Climate change has hit Chile hard, this year we were surprised with high temperatures in the middle of winter that made July the warmest month in the historical record. The year 2021 has been extremely dry especially for the central-southern part of the country, which has a water deficit of between 40 and 50%. Specialists indicate that what we are currently experiencing is a prolonged lack of water, better known as "mega drought".
This situation will continue to worsen in the future if the necessary measures are not taken to deal with it. If I could travel back in time to the future, I would like to witness how the drought was dealt with in the country. I would like to travel to the year 2080, to the south of Chile, specifically to the Magallanes region. This area will be highly populated because the vast majority of the population will migrate south due to the water shortage in the rest of the country and the world.
One
of my dreams is to have a house in the south of the country, near rivers, where
there is plenty of nature and clean air. If I were to make this trip, I would
stay there. By that year, climate change will have substantially changed the
ways of producing energy, evolving to clean energies. I would like to have a
self-sustainable house, and of course, an environmentally friendly lifestyle.
