My Future Job

A Freelance Job

One of the reasons why I study journalism is because through this I can meet different histories and places. Likewise, my ideal future job allows me to travel, to meet, to experiment and grow up as a professional. Therefore, I would like to have a freelance job, in which it can be independent and to carry my own rhythm of work. In addition, I would like to work for several agencies to which I can send my notes, reports, documentaries and photos from anywhere in the world.

This job requires knowledge and involvement on the locations, so I would like to travel much for writing about important topics for me. I would like to work from my home or from wherever I’m living. However, I don’t rule out the possibility of working in an office because of the tools y comforting it can provide me.

For me is very important to carry an independent lifestyle, being a journalist, I believe that I can get this quality of an easier way. However, in Chile, it is difficult to get this autonomy without having the necessary recurs. One journalist can to work more than 50 hours to week with any agency in the country and to receive a moderately good salary. This is why I would like to do my professional career in abroad, where journalistic work in other countries is better remunerated.

  2. Hi Miguel! That entertaining your ideal job, being independent will always be the best, your own rules and schedules. Journalism in Chile is undervalued with the issue of social networks, but there is still a long way to go for that to change :(

My feline partners

This is the story of my 4 cats. Early 2016, we decided to adopt a cat and my sister did the managements by social networks for the adoption, we name her Simoné. This cat is the most spoiled and unfriendly with the others cats. She is tiger aspect and her sign is Aries. Simoné is like my eldest daughter and came to give love to our family in a painful moment.                  Subsequently, early 2018 we adopted another cat picked up from the  street by a classmate of my sister, I’m talking about Liev. An albino cat with blue eyes, very spoiled, playful, doesn’t clean much bur is very lovely, sociable and his sign is Aquarius. Liev is my greatest treasure in life. During the spring in 2018, appeared a kitty newborn in the courtyard. She was one of the survivors of a childbirth that had a roof cat. The first few days I fed and cared for her at home with the goal of giving her up for adoption, the mothe...

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

In 2019 I entered the university for the first time to study journalism. The duration of the career is 5 years, a total of 10 semesters. The curriculum consists of a total of 60 courses throughout the career. That year was unstable, the first semester there was a school strike for a few weeks, and the second semester the country experienced strong social changes that forced the closing of the semester earlier than normal. The changes I would implement in my career are based on my short experience in on-site classes and in the student assemblies that were made at the institute. Regarding the journalism curriculum, I would implement the courses that involve the use of journalistic tools in the first year, such as radio, photography, and reporting. This is to experiment and get to know these tools before the theory. In addition, the curriculum concentrates a high load for third, fourth, and fifth-year students, therefore, the program should be reorganized. On the other hand, the...

Time travel to the future

Climate change has hit Chile hard, this year we were surprised with high temperatures in the middle of winter that made July the warmest month in the historical record. The year 2021 has been extremely dry especially for the central-southern part of the country, which has a water deficit of between 40 and 50%. Specialists indicate that what we are currently experiencing is a prolonged lack of water, better known as "mega drought". This situation will continue to worsen in the future if the necessary measures are not taken to deal with it. If I could travel back in time to the future, I would like to witness how the drought was dealt with in the country. I would like to travel to the year 2080, to the south of Chile, specifically to the Magallanes region. This area will be highly populated because the vast majority of the population will migrate south due to the water shortage in the rest of the country and the world. One of my dreams is to have a house in the south of t...
